    About Us

Both of our “Cattleman” & “Outback” range of cattle yard equipment are manufactured to with stand heavy-duty high-pressure cattle yard work, our Cattleman range is a 6 rail 75x40x2mm oval rail panel and gate system where the “Outback” range is a 5 bar 115x42x2mm oval rail system.

Both the Cattleman and The Outback range provide safe, anti-bruising and offer a great visual barrier while working cattle. Both systems offer a lug and pin joining system and are manufactured from 100% Australian Made steel. Posts are 50×50 galvanised with steel caps fixed top and bottom.

Our gate in frames are Double Hinged offering a full 180 degrees swing eliminating the opportunity where cattle can be blocked and trapped in blind gate areas.

The difference between a good and great set of cattle yards depends on several factors. Ease of erecting, how panels, gates and all other components interconnect and compliment other yard components, positioning of your new yards to fit in with existing infrastructure such as internal fencing will compliment mustering and feeding livestock into your yards.

The Rural Shop offers a service which will help you factor in these points and best utilise your exiting setup if and where needed making your investment worthwhile.

A great set of cattle yards should provide both the operator and beast a safe environment by where possible eliminating the opportunities where beast and operator are working in close range eliminating the risk of injuries.

Efficient cattle flow also makes for a great set of cattle yards, poorly designed yards can cause inefficient flow, blind spots causing cattle to baulk which can cause undue stress on livestock and operator.

Positioning of cattle yards should also be a consideration when erecting your new yard system, environmental and surrounding factors such as direction of sunlight, slope of land, shade and water access also play an important factor as well as truck and vehicle access for loading and unloading.

The team at The Rural Shop can assist you with making these decisions through our expert and experienced team either through an on-site inspection or drafting and position or your new yards to give you an understanding of how your yards will be positioned. Contact us today and see how we can help you on your way to owning a great set of yards.

One of the biggest regrets after a new set of yards are purchased and erected is that the size of the yards often are smaller than expected, one of the first questions when considering a new set of yards is to ask suppliers what area has been factored in per beast for both working and holding capacity.

We base our yard capacities on 2.5mt Sq per head holding and 1.8mt Sq working, this allows for safe and efficient cattle handling. Unfortunately, throughout the industry several suppliers do not allow half of this area per beast when quoting yard capacities, once extra components are added to correct it often is not only a costly excise but can also be very time consuming also waiting for extra components.

Contact us and discuss you handling needs to make sure you are getting what you are investing in.
